WIMBLEDON, England — No other man had won 99 singles matches at Wimbledon. Now no other man has won 100.
The years pass, but Roger Federer plays on, and Wimbledon remains his favorite playground.
He has won a record eight singles titles at the All England Club, and on Wednesday, despite some fierce early resistance from Kei Nishikori, Federer returned to the semifinals with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 victory.
At 37, he is the oldest man to get to the final four of a Grand Slam singles tournament since Jimmy Connors, who was 39 when he reached the semifinals of the United States Open in 1991.
