MELBOURNE, Australia — Arina Rodionova has a big day planned Saturday — a semifinal match in an Australian Open wildcard qualifier and in a fairly huge conflict, her wedding.
The Russian-born Australian advanced to Saturday's final four of the Australian Open playoffs, which could see her gain a spot in the main draw for January's first Grand Slam of the year at Melbourne Park.
Only trouble is that she's also marrying Australian Rules football player Ty Vickery at 4 p.m. that day.
But with some help from tournament organizers and her opponent, Storm Sanders, the match has been moved to 9 a.
