US Open Women's Final Sells Out Before Men's Final

NEW YORK — With Serena Williams on the verge of making history, the U.S. Open women's final has sold out before the men's title match.

Tournament officials don't have complete records but believe this is the first time that has happened.

If Williams makes the final Sept. 12, she will be one win from completing the first Grand Slam since Steffi Graf in 1988. The top-ranked American has already won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year. She also would tie Graf with the most major titles in the Open era with 22.
