Wearing the fashion-forward Adidas Roland Garros Y-3 Tank and its matching black skirt, just like many players in Paris this fortnight, world No.3 Angelique Kerber suffered a first-round upset to Dutch Kiki Bertens 6-2 3-6 6-3.
The 58th-ranked Bertens continues fine form that took her all the way from qualifying and past top seed Roberta Vinci to the title in Nürnberg just ahead of Roland Garros.

The reigning Australian Open champion Kerber committed too many unforced errors in today's match, 28 to just 9 winners, while Bertens counterbalanced 36 unforced errors with 33 winners.
