The latest WTA players to join the innovative Mutua Madrid Open Virtual Pro video game tennis tournament are Top 20 members Elina Svitolina and Johanna Konta.
As you know, the coronavirus pandemic has forced the Premier Mandatory tournament in Madrid to be called off, so the organizers decided to have at least some form of competition this year and came up with an online solution where 16 WTA players will compete on PlayStation 4 game Tennis World Tour over four days, from 27th to 30th April.
The fifth-ranked Svitolina is pumped up for the online version of the claycourt event:
I’m really excited about the Mutua Madrid Open’s initiative.
