Top-ranked Novak Djokovic beat 35th-ranked Jack Sock, 6-2, 6-1, on Thursday in the third round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal. The match lasted 54 minutes.

Djokovic, the tournament champion in 2007, 2011 and 2012, has won 50 of 53 matches this year. In the quarterfinals, he will meet Ernests Gulbis, who beat Donald Young, 6-4, 6-4.

Second-seeded Andy Murray also advanced, beating Gilles Muller, 6-3, 6-2. Murray broke Muller’s serve four times in the 65-minute match. Also, seventh-seeded Rafael Nadal beat Mikhail Youzhny, 6-3, 6-3.

On the women’s side in Toronto, top-ranked Serena Williams advanced to the quarterfinals, beating 16th-seeded Andrea Petkovic, 6-3, 6-2.
