Simona Halep has confirmed that she has a small tear high up in her left calf, following a retirement midway through her second-round match at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.
On Wednesday night, defending Rome champion Halep was forced to retire at 6-1 3-3 against fellow Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber because of a very painful left calf tear. Now that the Romanian has done an MRI, she’s been able to reveal more details about the injury.
From her statement on social media, we can conclude that the injury is not serious, although the time Halep will be away from competition has still not been projected.
