With her latest title at the National Bank Open and champion’s $439,700 purse, Simona Halep has become just the third WTA player to surpass $40 million in career prize money, joining the Williams sisters in the record list.
After winning her 24th title at the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto, Halep’s career earnings amount to $40,107,097, which makes her just the eighth tennis player in history, male or female, to earn more than $40 million. When it comes to WTA players, only Serena Williams and Venus Williams have earned more money at tournaments during their careers, $94,606,355 and $42,300,728 respectively.
