The 2019 US Open final will be contested between Serena Williams, who will have another shot at winning a record-equaling 24th major title, and Bianca Andreescu, Canadian teenager born nine months after her upcoming opponent won her first title at the season’s final Grand Slam in 1999.
The eighth-seeded Williams saved all six break points she faced against Elina Svitolina to record a routine 6-3 6-1 victory over the highest ranked player to reach the last eight at Flushing Meadows. The match lasted only one hour and ten minutes, as Williams hit 34 winners, compared to her opponent’s 11.
