AUCKLAND, New Zealand — Serena Williams lost her second-round match at the ASB Classic and the 22-time Grand Slam singles champion, frustrated by swirling winds, didn’t leave quietly.
“At least I can get out of these conditions,” No. 2-ranked Williams said after her 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-4 loss Wednesday to fellow American Madison Brengle.
“I would say it’s my least favorite conditions I’ve ever played in. Again my opponent played in the exact same conditions. She was able to adjust better than me. I really abhorred these conditions.”
