WIMBLEDON, England — Serena Williams advanced to the semifinals of Wimbledon with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Camila Giorgi on Tuesday.
Williams, a seven-time singles champion at the All England Club seeded 25th in this tournament, saw the draw open up for her after the top 10 seeds lost before the quarterfinals. Williams is ranked 181st after returning to the WTA tour in March. She gave birth to her daughter, Olympia, last September.
Now, she is in the Wimbledon semifinals for the 11th time. She is pursuing her 24th Grand Slam singles title, which would tie Margaret Court’s record.
