World No.161 Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia badly fell on her knees early in the second set, but luckily managed to continue where she left off and recorded a confident 6-2 6-2 victory over Victoria Azarenka in the second round of Roland Garros.
The tenth-seeded Azarenka, one of 11 major winners in the draw, converted none of her five break points as Schmiedlova earned a straight-set victory in one hour and 42 minutes.
At 1-1 in the second set, Schmiedlova suffered a nasty fall on her knees and she could barely stand on her legs, so it looked like she would not be able to proceed.
