Maria Sakkari and Danielle Collins are through to the quarterfinals of the San Diego Open, while top seed Ons Jabeur was upset in the second round.
Third seed Maria Sakkari was up 6-3 2-2 against qualifier Maria Camila Osorio Serrano, when the Colombian withdrew because of a right thigh injury. Sakkari is flying solo at the tournament this year, not taking any of her team with her. The Greek excitedly told Women’s Tennis Blog that she had only eaten In-N-Out burgers once since arriving in California, demonstrating self-control after proclaiming at Indian Wells that her team was keeping her away from the popular fast food restaurant.
