Aryna Sabalenka‘s aggressive game was spotless in her Abu Dhabi WTA Women’s Tennis Open semifinal against Maria Sakkari, as the fourth-seeded Belarusian made a total of just eight unforced errors en route to a 6-3 6-2 victory.
Sabalenka was in control throughout the match, even though at one point in the first set she allowed the ninth-seeded Sakkari to recover from 1-5 to 3-5. Twenty-two winners, including eight aces, and 83% of points won on first serve helped the world No.10 win this encounter in just 61 minutes.
The 22-year-old Sabalenka is now on a 14-match winning streak and is just one win away from her third consecutive WTA title, having ended the 2020 season with title runs in Ostrava and Linz.
