After Russian Anastasia Potapova upset former world No.1 Angelique Kerber on the first day of Roland Garros, her compatriot and fellow tournament debutante Veronika Kudermetova also recorded the biggest victory of her career, and also on Court Philippe Chatrier, by stunning former world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki on the second day of main-draw action in Paris.
The 68th-ranked Kudermetova lost the first seven games of the first-round match before winning two straight sets with a twin score to knock out the 13th-seeded Wozniacki 0-6 6-3 6-3. The rising Russian hit 40 winners during the match that lasted two hours and four minutes, while 32 of those winners came in the second and third sets in which she also won more than 70% behind her first serve.
