Laura Robson has decided not to use her protected ranking to gain direct entry into next month's Australian Open.
The 21-year-old, who has played only eight tournaments since a 17-month lay-off with wrist problems, is expected instead to build up her ranking at smaller events.
Andy Murray, Aljaz Bedene, Johanna Konta and Heather Watson all gain direct entry into the draw.
Kyle Edmund is currently the third alternate for the men's singles.
Because of this, he stands a good chance of avoiding the qualifying competition.
Robson is now down to 555th in the world but her protected ranking - which is given to players who are unable to play because of injury for a period of at least six months - is 58th and she may use it to enter next summer's French Open.
