The opening day of main-draw action at the Prague Open was rained off and the only completed singles match is wildcard Eugenie Bouchard‘s emphatic 6-0 6-3 victory over Russian eighth seed Veronika Kudermetova. Three matches from the final round of qualifying also managed to complete, while the rest of the schedule has been postponed because of heavy rain.
The former world No.5 Bouchard, currently ranked 330th, seems to have wisely used her time off, as the Canadian scored her first clay-court victory since 2018 and she did that without dropping serve. Is this just the beginning of a career reset for Bouchard, who has recently started working with coach Rennae Stubbs?
