The first day at the WTA Finals is traditionally all about glamour and the 2016 edition in Singapore was no different as the finalists once more dressed up for the traditional draw ceremony inside the Marina Bay Sands shopping mall.
Still, something was different this year as the stage did not feature the season’s top 8 players but rather just 7 as the final eight spot is still undecided as the draw was made, with Svetlana Kuznetsova’s Moscow final run potentially being the end of Johanna Konta’s hopes to compete in Singapore.
The eight missing player weren’t the only absence that was felt on Friday as this year’s edition of the finals also missing many of the sports biggest names due to several circumstances.
