Tuesday at the 2016 WTA Finals in Singapore had plenty of excitement in store as the day in Singapore’s Sports Hub was packed with activities. After #1 doubles player Sania Mirza answered questions from fans, the tournament’s doubles field came together for the draw ceremony before starting play on Thursday.
The day’s first singles match turned out to be a quicker affair than most observers would have hoped as the high-profile encounter between Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep was swiftly finished in favor of the German world #1.
Kerber’s excellent day in Singapore was rounded out by receiving both the Year-End #1 trophy as well as a commemorative Tiffany ring to honor the occasion.
