The last British hope at the 2017 Aegon Classic crashed out in Birmingham on Thursday as Johanna Konta fell to American Coco Vandeweghe.
Coming off a final in Nottingham the week before, Konta failed to advance into the quarter-final in Birmingham, running into a well-playing Vandeweghe who closed out the match into quick sets as the crowd was forced to watch the last Briton exit the tournament.
Vandeweghe is joined in the quarter-final by Camila Giorgi who stunned Rome champion Elina Svitolina.
