After yesterday’s rain-shortened day at the 2016 Ericsson Open, Tuesday in Bastad was blessed with plenty of sunshine as the first round of Sweden’s WTA tournament was in full swing.
Spectators got to watch Sara Errani’s sucessfull start into the tournament as the #2 seed won her first-round match in straight set, joining 2015 Bastad champion Johanna Larsson who kept the upper-hand over fellow Swede Rebecca Peterson.
Tuesday was a particularly good day for all the German players as well as all four of them cleared the first round. While Annika Beck got past Sorana Cirstea and Mona Barthel beat Yaroslava Shevoda, Julia Görges was involved in a fierce battle against Polona Hercog.
