Pegula battles back to deliver Kenin a crushing loss in Charleston final

Playing her second final in just eight days—after falling to Aryna Sabalenka in the Miami OpenJessica Pegula staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Sofia Kenin and claim her first Credit One Charleston Open title in straight sets, 6-3 7-5.

The top-seeded Pegula started strong, breaking Kenin in the opening game and quickly building a 2-0 lead. She even held two break points to go up 3-0, but Kenin rallied with three consecutive games to turn the momentum. However, that surge would prove short-lived. Pegula quickly regained control, winning the next four games and wrapping up the first set with two more breaks.
