World No.66 Marie Bouzkova comfortably won the first set of her Wimbledon quarterfinal against third seed Ons Jabeur, but the Tunisian world No.2 raced through the next two sets to move into her maiden Grand Slam semifinal, 3-6 6-1 6-1.
Czech Republic’s Bouzkova, who had never before been beyond the second round at a major, broke Jabeur’s serve twice as she confidently won the first set. The situation quickly changed dramatically, as favorite Jabeur found her rhythm and absolutely dominated the remainder of the match.
Jabeur’s next opponent will be fellow first-time Grand Slam semifinalist Tatjana Maria, who beat Jule Niemeier in an all-German quarterfinal earlier on Tuesday.
