Novak Djokovic cantered to the semi-finals past reigning US Open champion Marin Cilic at the Monte Carlo Masters. Djokovic won the first eight games of his quarter-final before Cilic managed to hold his serve, the Croatian raising a thumb in the air to celebrate.
Cilic, the eighth seed, did not go without a fight and saved two match points in the final game, but he could not hold as Djokovic closed out the match in just over an hour, 6-0, 6-3.
“Just all in all it was probably the best match I’ve played so far in the tournament,” Djokovic said.
