Novak Djokovic comes survives wobble to see off Jarkko Nieminen

Novak Djokovic shrugged aside a fleeting lapse of concentration to ease through his opening match at the French Open with a 6-2, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Jarkko Nieminen of Finland.

Djokovic, who is bidding for his first title at Roland Garros, began and ended the match with trademark assurance, dictating the play against an opponent who at times looked bewildered by the power and variety of the top seed’s all-court game.

But Nieminen, a former world No13 who has reached the last eight at each of the other three majors, knows his way around a tennis court.
