PARIS — No longer the best men’s clay-court player never to win the French Open, Novak Djokovic finally got to celebrate in Paris on Sunday.
He put an end to the frustration and a 12-year wait with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Andy Murray. In doing so, Djokovic, the world’s No. 1 player by a large margin, also became the eighth man in tennis history to complete the career Grand Slam. More remarkable, he became the third man after Don Budge and Rod Laver to hold all four of the major singles titles at the same time.
