Naomi Osaka‘s depression and anxiety are extending her time away from competitive tennis. Wimbledon is the latest tournament that the world No.2 will skip in order to focus on mental health.
After making a shocking decision to pull out of Roland Garros when faced with lack of understanding for her need to skip mandatory post-match press conferences at the Grand Slam, the Japanese extended her Tour avoidance into the grasscourt season, first with the withdrawal from the Bett1Open in Berlin, and now Wimbledon.
The 23-year-old Osaka’s agent released the following statement:
Naomi won’t be playing Wimbledon this year.
