HONG KONG — Garbine Muguruza has pulled out of the Hong Kong Open, hours after winning the China Open.
Hong Kong organizers said the Spanish player needed to recover from an ankle problem. Muguruza will rise to No. 4 in the world rankings on Monday after beating Timea Bacsinszky in the China Open final on Sunday.
Muguruza's withdrawal is the latest blow to the tournament, which has already seen Eugenie Bouchard and Victoria Azarenka pull out.
