While Serena Williams was struggling against Kiki Bertens in the semifinal on Court Philippe Chatrier, Garbine Muguruza was never troubled against Samantha Stosur on Court Suzanne Lenglen, recording a confident 6-2 6-4 victory to reach her first French Open final.
The world No.4 Muguruza quickly built a 4-0 lead and the 2010 French Open finalist Stosur never even gave glimpses of hope that she could turnaround the first set.
The second set was more competitive, as the 32-year-old Stosur managed to recover from 0-2 to 2-2, but again she never led in this encounter and the entire match was dictated by Muguruza, who went a double break up from 2-all.
