The singles field at the 2022 WTA Finals is complete now as Maria Sakkari has become the eighth and final player to qualify for the prestigious tournament set to take place in Fort Worth.
World No.6 Maria Sakkari assured her place at the WTA Finals for the second year in a row with a hard-fought 6-1 5-7 6-4 victory over Veronika Kudermetova in the quarterfinals of the Guadalajara Open Akron on Friday night. Had Kudermetova won the match, she would have taken the last spot in the singles field of the year-ending WTA Finals as a debutante and broken into the Top 10.
