Lesia Tsurenko eases past Urszula Radwanska to win Istanbul Cup

The relationship just got serious. Lesia Tsurenko, the colourful Ukrainian who declared a couple of years ago that she is in a time-consuming relationship with a beau named tennis, overcame Urszula Radwanska 7-5, 6-1 in the final of the Istanbul Cup to claim the first WTA Tour title of her career.

Tsurenko, 26, has rarely made headlines in her eight years on the pro circuit. Before this year’s run to the last eight at Indian Wells, where victories over Andrea Petkovic and Eugenie Bouchard gave her the first top-10 scalps of her career, she was perhaps best known for what must rank as one of the most ill-judged Hawk-Eye appeals since the challenge system was introduced.
