Kvitova makes short work of Wozniacki, completes China Open quarterfinal field

Playing Caroline Wozniacki for the 12th time, Petra Kvitova recorded her seventh victory over the Dane pretty dominantly, 6-1 6-4, to take the final spot in the China Open quarterfinals.

After a tentative start to the match, the 12th-seeded Kvitova converted her fourth break point in the third game and Wozniacki had less and less answers to her powerful serves, quickly losing the first set with two winners to five unforced errors, compared to Kvitova’s 17 winners to eight unforced errors.

The second set was more competitive, as Kvitova had to save break points at the onset and things went with serve until the tenth game, when the Czech converted her sole break opportunity of the set, winning the match on her first match point.
