Seventh seed Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic is back in the French Open semifinals after eight years with a solid 6-3 6-3 victory over Germany’s world No.66 Laura Siegemund.
The two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova won 17 out of 18 points when her first serve landed in to comfortably build a 6-3 2-0 lead. Just one break point was enough for her to go ahead in the first set, as Siegemund never recovered from a 3-1 deficit.
After the first two games in the second set, Kvitova’s serve quality declined and she started producing more errors, which allowed Siegemund to level to 2-2.
