Jennifer Brady powers into US Open semifinals

American world No.41 Jennifer Brady needed only 69 minutes to beat Yulia Putintseva for the first time in their three career meetings and become the first player to advance to the semifinals of the 2020 US Open.

The 28th-seeded Brady raced to a 4-0 lead to open the match and even though Putintseva got one break back, the American confidently took the first set. Seed No.23 Putintseva again couldn’t hold serve early in a set as Brady went 2-0 up in the second and although the Kazakh managed to level at 2-2, Brady reeled off the next four consecutive games to record another emphatic victory this fortnight, 6-3 6-2.
