American world No.49 Jennifer Brady and Swiss world No.63 Jil Teichmann both progressed in straight sets to the final of the inaugural Top Seed Open, the first WTA tournament in the United States since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 23-year-old left-hander Teichmann defeated Serena Williams’ conqueror Shelby Rogers 6-3 6-2 in Saturday’s semifinals and is now through to her third career WTA final. The Spanish-born player from Switzerland, who enjoyed a breakout year in 2019 advancing to and winning her first two WTA titles at Prague and Palermo, has so far always won a tournament when she reaches the semifinals.
