Jelena Ostapenko and Carla Suarez Navarro are added to the ever-growing 2020 US Open withdrawals list.
The 2017 French Open champion Ostapenko is the latest active major singles titlists who will miss this year’s Grand Slam in New York, others being Garbine Muguruza, Simona Halep, and former US Open winners Bianca Andreescu, Sam Stosur, and Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The 42nd-ranked Latvian didn’t explain the reason for her withdrawal on social media. Her replacement in the draw will be American Whitney Osuigwe, while American 16-year-old Katrina Scott will receive the wildcard previously awarded to Osuigwe.
