HONG KONG — Jelena Jankovic and Samantha Stosur advanced to the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Open on Wednesday, both winning in straight sets.
Jankovic, a former top-ranked player from Serbia, beat Anastasia Rodionova of Australia 6-0, 6-2. Stosur defeated Monica Puig of Puerto Rico 6-4, 6-4.
"It was more difficult than it looked," said Stosur, the 2011 U.S. Open champion from Australia. "She has improved quite a lot from the last time I met her but I thought I played very well."
Stosur will next face Heather Watson, who beat Taiwanese qualifier Lee Ya-hsuan 6-0, 6-7 (5), 6-4.
