Jamie Murray moved closer to a second Wimbledon doubles title as he and his Australian partner John Peers marched into the men’s doubles semi-finals.
The 29-year-old Murray was a mixed doubles champion with Jelena Jankovic eight years ago and stands within touching distance of another final, after a 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 victory over the No8 seeds, Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares, sealed a lastu2011four place.
Peers served them over the winning line and the pair embraced as the No2 Court crowd roared their approval at the British victory. Murray’s mother, Judy, was also in attendance, leaping to her feet in the stands to punch the air in delight.
