Jamie Murray beat younger brother Andy in their first competitive meeting, teaming up with John Peers to win in the second round of the men's doubles at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
Murray Sr and Peers beat Murray Jr and Leander Paes 6-4 7-6 (11-9).
The latter pair recovered from 1-5 to level the second-set tie-break but could not deny the seventh seeds.
Andy Murray - Britain's number one - earlier reached the last eight of the singles, beating Gilles Muller 6-3 6-2.
The 28-year-old had to save four break points in his opening service game.
