Ivanovic makes St. Petersburg semifinals despite weak performance

Despite making much more unforced errors than winners and displaying an unimpressive game, Ana Ivanovic stopped Ukrainian qualifier Kateryna Kozlova, who had ousted Barbora Strycova and Elena Vesnina in the first two rounds of the St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy.

The world No.20 Ivanovic stormed through the first set and went a break up in the second. However, the 177th-ranked Kozlova broke back right away for 1-1, and even though Ivanovic established a 4-2 lead later on, when serving for victory she dropped serve and the set was again even at 5-all. Still, in the eleventh game Ivanovic broke the qualifier's serve at love and finished the job in the following game.
