Heather Watson made an early exit from the Citi Open in Washington DC losing 6-3, 6-0 to the American wildcard, Louisa Chirico.
Watson, ranked No55 in the world, lost her serve in the opening game of the first-round match but broke back in the next and was then forced to save a break point in the third game.
Chirico made Watson work for every hold and claimed further breaks in the fifth and ninth games to take the set.
The world No128 then wrapped up the second set and the match without losing a game as she eased to victory in an hour and 10 minutes.
