In a third-round Wimbledon meeting of former world No.1s, Simona Halep eased into the second week of the Grand Slam as Victoria Azarenka couldn’t control her unforced errors count and the Romanian celebrated 6-3 6-1 in just 66 minutes.
It was the world No.40 Azarenka who opened the match with a lead, going to 3-1 after 14 minutes of play, but from that moment the Belarusian won just one game. On paper this was a blockbuster, but in reality it turned into a relatively easy match for the seventh-seeded Halep, as Azareka helped her with 33 unforced errors.
