PARIS — Guy Forget has been appointed as the new director of the French Open tennis tournament at Roland Garros.
The French Tennis Federation said in a statement Friday that Forget — who was France's Davis Cup captain from 1999-2012 — will replace Gilbert Ysern, who was fired earlier this month.
The 51-year-old Forget has been director of the Paris Masters indoor tournament since 2012. As a player, Forget reached a career-high ranking of No. 4 in 1991, twice won the Davis Cup and reached five Grand Slam quarterfinals.
Ysern was also a general director within the FFT, and will be replaced in that role by Jeremy Botton, who will oversee plans for the renovation and modernization of Roland Garros.
