Eugenie Bouchard appears to have rediscovered happiness in both her personal life and on the tennis court. As she was recording her first main-draw win at the Mutua Madrid Open since 2017, the Canadian was supported by her boyfriend Jack Brinkley-Cook, the son of model Christie Brinkley.
Playing only her second main-draw match at WTA 1000 level since February 2019, and her first without the benefit of a wildcard in more than four years, qualifier Bouchard fought past Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska 6-7(6) 6-2 6-2 in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open on Wednesday and booked a second-round meeting with 18th seed Martina Trevisan of Italy.
