Czech seventh seed Petra Kvitova overcame a slow start to beat Canadian teenager Leylah Fernandez and reach the French Open fourth round.
Two-time Wimbledon champion Kvitova trailed 5-1 in the opening set but stormed back to win 7-5 6-3 against the impressive 18-year-old.
She will face China's Zhang Shuai for a place in the quarter-finals.
Earlier, Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin advanced with a 6-2 6-0 win over Romanian qualifier Irina Bara.
But eighth seed Aryna Sabalenka was beaten by Tunisia's Ons Jabeur, 7-6 (9-7) 2-6 6-3.
It is the first time Kvitova, 30, has reached the fourth round at Roland Garros since 2015.
