The 2016 winner and third seed won 6-0 6-2 in 63 minutes and will face Ukrainian world number 39 Lesia Tsurenko next.
Spaniard Muguruza, 24, lost her serve to love in the fourth game of the second set but won the next four games to seal victory.
Serena Williams and top seed Simona Halep are in action later on Saturday.
