WIMBLEDON, England — Jonas Bjorkman knew before most that the Wimbledon men’s final, which began with some promise on Sunday, would turn into a dud. Marin Cilic, the player Bjorkman coaches, was sending little signals to his team box that the blister on his left foot had returned.
What Bjorkman first understood, the rest of the tennis-watching world soon learn, and in some ways it made for a fitting end to a tournament marred by injuries and retirements that helped dictate the outcome.
“That’s how it goes,” Bjorkman said. “It’s a long season. I think it’s just bad luck.
