Last year’s US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez and reigning US Open champion Emma Raducanu are both suffering from injuries ahead of Wimbledon: the former walks on crutches and will definitely skip the grass-court Grand Slam, the latter expects to be fit in time.
The world No.15 Fernandez fractured her right foot and walks on crutches. The Canadian is “in need of some well wishes more than ever.” The injury happened in her recent three-set loss to Martina Trevisan in the Roland Garros quarterfinals.
The world No.11 Raducanu has good news: a scan has confirmed that her latest injury is a minor side strain and she is expected to be healthy for Wimbledon.
