BUCHAREST, Romania — Top-seeded Sara Errani of Italy overcame Romania's Monica Niculescu 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in scorching temperatures on clay Saturday to advance to the Bucharest Open final.
Errani, ranked 20th, lost the first set in a semifinal lasting 2 hours, 21 minutes, with temperatures of 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit).
The 28-year-old Italian saved 11 out of 15 break points against her third-seeded opponent at the Arenele BNR.
Niculescu, ranked 41st, fought hard at the start of the third set but, at 2-2, Errani broke Niculescu's service and won the next three games for victory.
