As Qaz Monitor reports, the reigning Wimbledon champion Rybakina has donated 35 million KZT, which is approx. 77,000 USD, to rising women’s tennis players from Kazakhstan. Fourteen girls received about 5,500 USD each.
The 22-year-old Rybakina, who has recently triumphed at the BNP Paribas Open and won 1,262,220 USD in prize money, is happy to be giving back and supporting the development of tennis in her adopted home country:
I think it would be the right thing to organize a tournament or to establish grants for junior players because I myself got a lot of support in Kazakhstan.
